| GameBoy Advance Link Cable Review |
| Linked-play for the GBA. 10/03/2002 |
Introduction
When Nintendo designed the GameBoy Advance they clearly designed it to be multi-player system. Nintendo came up with a unique way of connecting four GBAs. Rather than having a separate device which connect cables together, Nintendo made a cable which allows other players to connect to an already established network.
Statistics
- Compatible only with the GameBoy Advance and GameBoy Advance software.
- The Universal Game Link Cable must be used to play GameBoy Color and GameBoy games.
- 3 month warranty.
Design
Here is how the cable system works. Each cable contains two plugs (grey and purple) and an outlet in the middle. The purple plugs go into the middle outlet and/or player one's system and the grey plugs go into other systems. This connection is very solid and is free of any lag that may occur with other 3rd party cables. Nintendo typically has high quality products and this cable is one of them.
Value
This cable retails for $9.95 in the US and $14.95 in Canada. I guess it is not surprising considering Nintendo's typical prices. Nintendo's policy is that all hardware products they manufacture include a 3-month warranty.
Satisfaction
This cable serves its purpose very well. It does what it should. It connects GBA systems to allow for linked play. This product works quite well, and it is lag free.
Overall
If you have a GBA you have to buy a link cable and Nintendo's cable is probably the most reliable out there.
