Secret of Mana is the second game of the Seiken Densetsu series developed by Square Enix which was a great hit in both Europe and America.
The main character is a boy. He travels with his friends to an area where they aren't allowed to go. While standing on a small log, he accidentally falls off and lands in the middle of a lake. He decides to explore the area to find his way back to town, but he stumbles across a sword planted in a rock. He approaches the rock and a voice tells him to remove the sword. As he does, a light shines so bright that he is blinded for a few seconds. As his vision comes back, he notices a ghostly figure standing on where the sword was just planted and vanishes almost immediately. When the boy returns to his home town, he finds out that the sword he pulled out was the Mana Sword, which brought many monsters to the world, including his own town. The boy is then sent out on an epic journey to save the world itself with the Mana Sword.

Although the first game of the Seiken Densetsu series, Final Fantasy Adventure, wasn't a big hit as Square thought it would be, Secret of Mana showed the world that the Seiken Densetsu series wasn't going to go downhill.
If someone were to ask me what my favourite game of all time was, I would tell them "Secret of Mana." I remember playing this game right when it first came out, and it has been my favourite game since. Why you ask? The story of Secret of Mana blew me away. The graphics are extraordinary compared to most of the SNES games. And last, but not least, the game play was fun and never repetitive. The game play is basically "beat-em-up" mixed with an HP system. Kind of like an Action RPG. You can set the tactics for the AI, but usually the AI isn't all that smart.
With stunning graphics, a great story, and fun game play, Secret of Mana is easily one of the best Action RPG games out there. Despite the "not so intelligent" AI, the game is still fun and addicting.
Score - 9.5
