Super Mario Advance is the definitive Game Boy Advance port prototype. Take an old classic, improve the graphics, add some new audio and offer nothing original.
The Super Mario Bros. 2 included in this game is near identical to the version found in the SNES compilation game, Super Mario All-Stars. You get decent 16-bit graphics, the option to save your progress and improved audio over the original NES release.
The game play in this version is nearly identical to the original, the controls are spot on and the level designs are remain unchanged. There have been some minor modifications to show off the sprite scaling capabilities of the Game Boy Advance in that Mario can now pick up and throw some very huge, vegetables, enemies and pow bocks.
The Mario Bros. in this game is an expanded version of the NES game. It includes a multiplayer mode for up to four players which provides for some very fun gaming. Single-pak link allows 4 players to partake in a versus mode match while multi-pak link also allows for another co-operative game mode.
Super Mario Advance is a typical remake, it has great game play but just isn't original. Those who have yet to try Super Mario Bros. 2 should give this game a try but others might prefer to spend there gaming time elsewhere.
