Metroid, a game first released on the NES, is seeing a new dawn. This time, the platform is the Nintendo GameBoy Advance. Admittedly, Nintendo is becoming famous for its game-porting cash-grabs; however, they decided to take a different route for Metroid series. Metroid: Zero Mission is a retelling of the original Metroid classic, based on the Metroid Fusion engine and design. That means detailed sprites and backgrounds on a crisp LCD screen. This retelling includes cinematic cutscenes as well as additional adventure beyond Metroid's classic game.

Metroid: Zero Mission wastes no time putting you in the game. Infact, besides a landing space craft and a small note from Samus Aran, you are thrown into action on Zebes. There, you will quickly grab your morph ball ability and be on your way into the belly of the beast. The gameplay is near identical to that of Fusion's, which is great. A very streamlined engine indeed. The game has a very ancient feel, Chozo statues galore are all over the place and they are displayed as highly detailed sprites. Even the backgrounds are tomb-like and ancient, a very cool feeling that ties in well as history to the Metroid series. Overall, the graphic direction is very astounding and visually pleasing. The music and sound effects are equally impressive, boasting a remixed soundtrack of the original game, as well as some new tunes for good measure. The game is quick to impresses and keeps you engaged throughout its entire, albeit short, duration.
