Mini-Review

When Rare ported Donkey Kong Country to the Game Boy Advance, they had to downgrade some of the visuals and audio from the SNES versions in order to make it more playable on the handheld. The same is true in this version of Donkey Kong Country 2. The level environments have less graphical detail in order to make the character sprites more distinguishable on the small screen. Some of the sound effects and music has been altered so that they contain much less bass and a higher degree of treble. This was done because the Game Boy Advance speakers really don't handle bass all that well.

Just like the original port, this game contains some fun mini-games as well as a mode that allows you to see how fast you can run through previously completed levels.

While the this version of Donkey Kong Country 2 still has excellent design and control, it really doesn't offer gamers who have already experienced the SNES version a compelling reason to play it.

Score - 7.0
