The peaceful Mushroom Kingdom has been invaded by the Koopas; a tribe of turtles that use black magic. The people of the Mushroom Kingdom have been turned into stones, bricks and even field horsehair plants! The Mushroom Kingdom has fallen into ruin! The only one that can undo the black magic of the Koopas is Princess Toadstool, daughter of the Mushroom King. Unfortunately, she is has been captured by the Koopa King, Bowser. Mario, a plumber, hears about the Mushroom people's plight and sets out on a quest to rescue Princess Toadstool, restore order to the Mushroom Kingdom and defeat the evil Bowser.
Super Mario Bros. Deluxe is a remake of the 1985 original. Lost Levels, which was Super Mario Bros. 2 in Japan, has also been included in the game. Not only is this cartridge two games in one, it also includes many other features. These include: A calendar, a fortune teller, 8 single or multi-player racing levels, a record album, a high score list, and several printer options for banners and comics. Also included is an extensive Challenge mode, where you play the original game, one level at a time. As you go through the level you have three goals. One is to find the 5 red coins that are hidden, another goal is to find the hidden Yoshi egg, and the last is to reach a certain score in points. By doing so, you can earn a Coin badge, a Yoshi egg badge, and a Blue Leaf badge respectively. As you complete levels through the game, all these different modes and options are unlocked.

This is a very good remake of a classic. It includes so many extra features, and an excellent multiplayer game. This game is not only two Mario games, but it is also a pocket organizer thanks to its calendar mode. With so many options, this game is one of the best Mario ports on the market.
