Mini-Review

Not since the days of the NES has a Metal Gear game been released on a Nintendo System. Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes is a remake of the PlayStation classic. It contains excellent graphics and audio. The story presentation is very involving for video game standards even though the story itself eventually collapses under its own weight.

Metal Gear Solid has an interesting game play style; it is self-described as a "tactical espionage action." From a third person perspective; you must sneak around and complete your goals. If you get caught by the enemy guards, there is a high probability that you will die. You will acquire several items throughout the game such as tranquilizer guns to even cigarettes to help you in your quest.

This game is both frustrating and annoying at the same time. Snake character will die frequently until you figure out what must be done to get through a room or defeat a boss. Tactical espionage action and also be translated to "repetitive trial-and-error espionage action." However, it must be noted that the frustrating aspects of this game never cause a gamer to stop playing, this game is very addictive and rewarding as well.

Make no mistake, this is truly a great game, it's just not up there with the best-of-the-best game GameCube titles such as Metroid Prime and Viewtiful Joe.
